Meet Dr. Katie Lund!
I had a wonderful experience last month while socializing with some friends at a summer event at the Erie Yacht Club. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Katie Lund, a wonderful young woman who grew up strong and realized early that “strong girls can be doctors”!
Dr. Katie graciously conversed with me about her career in medicine and , of course, I was interested in her upbringing. What prompted this young, intelligent, exciting woman to enter into the field of medicine? Well, guess what? Her father is also in the medical field. I asked her about that and wondered how her Dad’s career affected her career choice. It was interesting to hear her address this issue. It is obvious that growing up in a household where the medical field was valued and encouraged resulted in Dr. Katie choosing this career path.
I loved that she shared with me a special recollection of the messages sent to her as a child. She stated that in her childhood bedroom there was a plaque on the wall that read “Don’t tell your daughter to marry a doctor or a lawyer. Tell her to be one!!!” Hip, hip, hooray for her parents! They truly sent the right messages to this wonderful strong girl!
It was great meeting you, Katie! You go, Girl!
